NEWPORT BEACH
A 44-year-old construction worker fell from the fourth story of a west Newport hotel under renovation last week and landed on his feet.
Fortunately for the man, who weighs about 350 pounds, he didn’t suffer major injuries. He complained of severe back pain when emergency crews arrived and was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.
The accident occurred at a motel at Prospect Street and West Coast Highway that was undergoing renovation. The construction worker was standing on a narrow balcony when he took a misstep and fell. He fell 30 feet to the ground but managed to land on his heels before tumbling to the concrete.
