The city will open a new gas station adjacent to the city fire station next week to provide compressed natural gas for cars used by the Police and Public Works departments.
Three police cars currently use the fuel, and the city plans to convert its entire fleet to natural gas because the fuel is better for the environment, said Steve Badum, director of public works.
The change of fuel and the new station are being funded by state grants, Badum said.
