More Than 40 Arrested, Stolen Goods Seized
LANCASTER — Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested more than 40 people and seized $70,000 worth of stolen property Wednesday, culminating a months-long undercover investigation, authorities said.
The operation, which began in November, has netted 126 felony arrests and led to the recovery of such items as cellular phones, bicycles, guns and computers, according to Deputy Bruce Thomas.
Of those arrested, 93% had prior criminal records and half were on parole or probation, Thomas said. A similar operation targeting the Antelope Valley last year resulted in 77 arrests, officials said.
More than 200 officers participated in the sting, serving arrest and search warrants. Aiding deputies were state and county probation officers as well as county firefighters.
