Steve Putzel chuckles when prospective buyers gawk at the backyard swimming pool.
“I’ve gotten tired of the pool,” he says. “I work a 12-hour day and when I get home I don’t feel like using the net.”
But the future buyer of this house gets a bonus: a vacuum-powered leaf sucker. Putzel also points out the automatic sprinklers around the bricked gardens, “so you don’t have to run around with a butterfly sprinkler or one of those big hoses--although I have those too.”
Steve and Bertha Putzel bought the four-bedroom, 1,348-square-foot house about two years ago and have nearly completed all the needed fixing-up. The one-story stucco home has beamed ceilings and it’s “a sneeze away” from Disneyland.
The bathroom and powder room are being redone with new sinks and a reglazed bathtub.
House voyeurs shouldn’t worry about hurting the Putzels’ feelings if they pick away at the attributes of the home. Steve says he finds it amusing to be a house-seller.
“People . . . point out things and my feeling is, ‘If you don’t like the floor--tough. If you don’t like the bathrooms--neither do I. But, hey, you’ve got four bedrooms, you’ve got 1 1/2 baths and, whether you like them or not, they work.’ ”
Putzel says he will probably continue to put sweat equity into the house “until the day it sells.”
