THE SAFETY ZONE: ACTION LOG
The Times Orange County publishes a daily list of police incident reports provided by local law enforcement agencies. The Times prints items as soon as departments make them available. Because many departments release incident reports only weekly, not every community will be represented in each day’s Action Log. Authorities from the following communities released incident reports Tuesday:
ANAHEIM
* North Lemon Street: Report of an assault in the 1500 block at 2:22 p.m. Sunday.
* East Westport Drive: Report of a residential burglary in the 2100 block at 5:56 p.m. Sunday.
BREA
* Brea Mall: A petty theft was reported at 8:27 p.m. Friday; a burglary was reported at 3:37 p.m. Saturday.
* Imperial Highway: A grand theft was reported in the 1200 block at 9:44 a.m. Friday.
COSTA MESA
* Sunflower Avenue: A 22-year-old Fullerton resident died when the car he was riding in was broadsided by another car near Avenue of the Arts; reported at 4:20 p.m. Monday.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY
* Bushard Street: Police arrested a 16-year-old Fountain Valley High School student on suspicion of breaking into the school Tuesday and attempting to steal a master exam for a test he was supposed to take. Police released him to his parents.
* Stockdale Avenue: Someone broke a car window and stole the contents inside in the 15900 block; reported at 9:32 a.m. Sunday.
* Ward Avenue: A man challenged a police officer to a fight in the 17000 block at 7:58 p.m. Sunday.
FULLERTON
* Valencia Avenue at Acacia Street: Police arrested two city of Bell residents in connection with trying to steal a big rig full of electronics equipment at 7:12 p.m. Sunday. The truck’s ignition had been punched out.
* West Valencia Drive: Report of a residential burglary in the 4100 block at 10:55 p.m. Sunday.
* East Yorba Linda Boulevard: Report of an auto burglary in the 2900 block at 11:32 a.m. Sunday.
* North Harbor Boulevard: Report of stolen 1991 red Chevrolet truck in the 1200 block at 6:55 p.m. at 6:55 p.m. Sunday.
* South Princeton Avenue: Report of an auto theft in the 100 block at 9:04 p.m. Sunday.
* West Commonwealth Avenue: A DUI arrest was made in 1800 block at 1:31 a.m. Monday.
* Deerpark Drive: Report of a burglarized blue Nissan Maxima in the 1300 block at 10:35 a.m. Monday.
GARDEN GROVE
* Garden Grove Freeway: Police were looking for several people in connection with an armed robbery at 4 p.m. Tuesday near the Magnolia onramp. The gunmen apparently forced a jewelry courier off the road and robbed him. There were no injuries reported.
* Dawson Street: Officers were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress in the 13600 block Thursday. When they arrived, they stopped the getaway car as it tried to leave. Two other suspects fled on foot. After a brief chase in a residential area and along the Garden Grove Freeway, a second suspect was captured. The third suspect was found in a nearby yard. All of the property was recovered and the three were booked at the Orange County Jail.
HUNTINGTON BEACH
* Manitoba Drive at Yukon Drive: Report of a man acting like he was fighting someone at 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
* Norma Drive: A man in a wheelchair approached two girls, offering them $100 if they came to his house; reported in the 7000 block at 4:58 p.m. Saturday.
* Pacific Coast Highway: Report of a man talking to himself in the 600 block at 9:34 a.m. Sunday.
* Ranch Lane: Someone wearing only a baseball cap was reported in a public pool in the 19600 block at 5:25 p.m. Sunday.
IRVINE
* Barranca Parkway at the Santa Ana Freeway: Police said two people were tagging signs and taking pictures of themselves tagging; reported at 9:56 a.m. Tuesday.
* Culver Drive: Report of a stolen black Acura Integra in the 15400 block at 1:04 a.m. Sunday.
* Stanford: Report of a stolen 1986 tan Honda Accord in the 400 block at 7:48 p.m. Monday.
* Arborwood at Citrusglen: Report of a commercial burglary at 11:07 a.m. Monday. Copper fitting worth $10,300 was stolen from a construction site.
LAGUNA BEACH
* McAuley Place at Pacific Coast Highway: A Laguna Niguel man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at 1:47 a.m. Tuesday.
* Chillon Way: A dog reportedly charged at a child in the 2800 block at 3:53 p.m. Monday. The dog has reportedly roamed loose and acted aggressively toward neighbors all week.
LAGUNA NIGUEL
* Golden Lantern Street: A man leaving a restaurant in the 28900 block was accosted by four men in the parking lot who punched and kicked him and stole his wallet. Dana Point deputies located the suspects at the Harbor House Cafe in Dana Point; they were identified by the victim and a witness, and were arrested and booked at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of strong-arm robbery at 2:19 a.m. Tuesday.
* Oakmont: A woman reported that a person entered her unlocked garage in the 31200 block and stole items from her unlocked car at 9:20 a.m. Friday.
LA HABRA
* South Floyd Court: Report of a grand theft in the 1900 block at 8:14 a.m. Monday.
* East Lambert Road: Report of a residential burglary in the 900 block at 11:47 a.m. Saturday.
* East La Habra Boulevard: Report of a vehicle burglary in the 1800 block at 12:43 p.m. Saturday.
* East Erna Avenue: A man was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon in the 300 block at 7:06 p.m. Saturday.
LAKE FOREST
* Cantebury Lane: A woman reported that miscellaneous property was stolen from her parked, unlocked vehicle in the 21000 block at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
* Rockfield Boulevard: Deputies smelled marijuana on a man outside a bar in the 32100 block at 11:45 p.m. Thursday. Deputies conducted a consensual search and found marijuana on the man, who was cited for possession of marijuana and released.
LA PALMA
* Walker Street: A 40-year-old Cypress woman was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving at 4:15 a.m. Sunday.
* El Rancho Verde Drive: A 1993 Honda Civic was reported stolen from a driveway in the 4900 block at 11:50 p.m. Saturday.
* La Luna Drive: A woman discovered spray-painted graffiti on the sidewalk in front of her residence in the 5300 block following a loud party the night before; reported at 5:17 p.m. Saturday.
NEWPORT BEACH
* Ocean Boulevard at Iris Avenue: Someone spray-painted graffiti in the Corona del Mar Main Beach restroom Saturday. Damage was $50.
* Newport Center Drive: Twenty-two girls’ halter tops worth $528 were stolen from a display case at a children’s clothing store in Fashion Island on Saturday.
PLACENTIA
* Yorba Linda Boulevard: A petty theft was reported in the 100 block at 2:19 p.m. Thursday.
* Cypress Point: Report of a burglary in the 1300 block at 2:31 p.m. Thursday.
SANTA ANA
* South Harbor Boulevard: Police arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing another man in the arm in the 300 block at 10 p.m. Thursday.
SEAL BEACH
* Pacific Coast Highway: A man with bolt cutters was reportedly trying to cut a lock on a large freight container in a parking lot at 9:07 p.m. Sunday. Police found that the man was a construction worker.
TUSTIN
* Red Hill Avenue: An 11-year-old boy was injured when he darted in front of a delivery truck to retrieve a ball at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was treated at a hospital for injuries to his legs. The driver of the truck was not cited.
* Newport Avenue at Walnut Street: Police caught two alleged gang members fighting each other with a hammer, pliers and a knife at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Neither was injured. They were booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
WESTMINSTER
* Westminster Boulevard: The driver of a van hit two pedestrians who were apparently jaywalking just north of Golden West Street at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The unidentified male victim suffered internal injuries and was transported in critical condition to UCI Medical Center in Orange. A 37-year-old Westminster woman, who suffered a broken jaw and head injuries, was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Police did not cite the van driver.
* 15th Street: A 35-year-old woman was arrested on outstanding warrants in the 7900 block at 1:51 p.m. Sunday.
* Ward Street: A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving following a traffic accident at Parkview Avenue at 5:54 p.m. Sunday.
YORBA LINDA
* Delancy Drive: Vandalism was reported in the 4500 block at 10:03 a.m. Sunday.
* Avenida De Marcia: A petty theft was reported in the 24000 block Saturday.
* Yorba Linda Boulevard: A grand theft was committed in the 18000 block at 7:33 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities from the following communities did not release incident reports Tuesday: Buena Park, Cypress, Dana Point, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Los Alamitos, Mission Viejo, Orange, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Stanton and Villa Park.
