The City Council on Tuesday reviewed for the first time a proposed ordinance that restricts the feeding of wild birds. Under the proposal, residents would be prohibited from giving food to birds in quantities and frequencies that create the following problems: excessive droppings, a diversion of migratory patterns, unusual or excessive noise and unsanitary conditions. The ordinance was drafted in response to complaints about a homeowner who fed large numbers of wild ducks. The council isn’t likely to take a final vote until August.
