The Police Department’s first citizens academy class holds its graduation ceremony Thursday at City Hall. The class of 25 community activists, who were invited to attend the 10-week program, went through seminars and role-playing activities on patrol procedures, firearms handling, internal affairs, community-oriented policing and other topics. Chief Vincent Giampa said the department plans to use feedback on the first session to retool the program and open it to the public next fall. The graduation ceremony starts at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers, 7822 Walker St.
