Ordinances to Regulate Adult Entertainment

Continuing efforts to place tighter controls on adult entertainment businesses, the City Council’s Planning and Land Use Committee decided Tuesday to require that adult cabarets meet conditional-use permit requirements.

The committee directed the drafting of ordinances to regulate standards of behavior within the clubs, possibly including a requirement that performers be licensed to ensure that they are of legal age.

Citing businesses and organizations such as churches that require conditional-use permits, committee chairman Hal Bernson commented, “Why should adult entertainment be more protected?”
