Police Identify Man Held in Ax Slaying of Parent
Police on Saturday identified the man suspected of killing his stepfather with a pickax.
William Lorance, 33, had been staying with his parents in their home on the 22700 block of Islamare Lane in Lake Forest for about a week after having domestic problems with his wife, Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Hector Rivera said.
The confrontation between Lorance and his stepfather occurred after the parents asked Lorance to move out on Friday, enraging him, Rivera said.
He later broke into the house through an upstairs bedroom window and killed his stepfather, James Donald Morgan, 62, Rivera said.
Lorance’s mother fled the house and was unharmed, he said.
Lorance, who left the house before officers arrived, later surrendered to Anaheim police officers, Rivera said. He was booked early Saturday by sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of murder.
