Ex-TWA Pilot Says He Stole Evidence
Former TWA pilot Terrell Stacey testified that he agreed to steal evidence from the wreckage of Flight 800 after another airline employee asked him to help find out what caused the crash. Stacey said he gave the information to investigative writer James Sanders, who along with his wife, Elizabeth, is charged with stealing documents and a swatch of Flight 800 seat fabric in an effort to prove that the aircraft was shot down by a missile. Stacey originally was charged in the case but instead pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and agreed to testify against the Sanderses. Flight 800 exploded off the Long Island coast on July 17, 1996.
