Some store owners fear that the city will buy the Saddleback Valley Plaza and demolish it as part of the El Toro Road Revitalization Plan. But city officials say that fear is unfounded: Although many potential buyers are interested in the plaza, the city is not. Potential buyers recently met with city officials to tour the site and ask about the city’s vision for the area, but demolition is not part of the plan, Community Development director Kathy Graham said. The Planning Commission will discuss the issue at tonight’s meeting, which begins at 7 at City Hall, 23161 Lake Center Drive.
