Chaminade Sweeps Past Notre Dame

Kinsley Carnahan swept, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and Chaminade High won seven of nine singles sets in a 14-4 victory over Notre Dame in a Mission League tennis match Tuesday at Northridge Tennis Club.

Lindsay Chew won two of three sets at No. 2 singles and No. 3 Megan Messina did the same at No. 3 for Chaminade (3-2, 3-0 in league play), which won seven of nine doubles sets.

The Eagles’ No. 1 doubles team of Monica Alonso and Jessica Testeverde swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1.

Oak Park 10, St. Bonaventure 8--Rachel Colson and Vivian Doan swept at No. 2 doubles for the Eagles in a Tri-Valley League victory at Oak Park.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Notre Dame def. Marlborough, 15-9, 15-9, 15-8--January Machold had 12 kills in 15 attempts for the Knights (5-0), ranked No. 10 in the region by The Times, in a nonleague match at Notre Dame.

Harvard-Westlake def. Fountain Valley, 15-12, 15-6, 15-8--Joanna August had nine kills and Anne Jakle had seven kills for the Wolverines in a nonleague match at Harvard-Westlake.

Leslie Meller, playing her first match in place of injured Ashley Julian, had 37 assists for Harvard-Westlake (4-1), ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times.

Julian, the Wolverines’ starting setter, will be out four to six weeks because of a hairline fracture in her right wrist.

Village Christian def. Hart, 15-12, 15-12, 8-15, 12-15, 15-2--Errin Benesh had a triple-double with 21 kills, 12 blocks and 30 digs for the Crusaders (6-0) in a nonleague match at Village Christian.

Thousand Oaks def. La Canada, 15-2, 3-15, 11-15, 15-11, 16-14--The Lancers trailed, 14-8, in the fifth game before scoring the final eight points of the nonleague match at La Canada.

Jen Corral had 15 kills for the Lancers (8-2).

GIRLS’ GOLF

La Reina 154, Dos Pueblos 168, Carpinteria 173--Junior Jennifer Marshall shot a nine-over-par 46 in a Tri-Valley match at Montecito Country Club in Santa Barbara to earn medalist honors for the fifth time this season.

Marshall hit a 290-yard tee shot on the 454-yard seventh hole and recorded one of her three pars to go with a birdie.

Harvard-Westlake 133, Louisville 184, Calabasas 193--Medalists Ina Kim and Emma Stachowicz of each shot six-over-par 43 to help the Wolverines win a Mission League match at Balboa Golf Course in Encino.
