Ramirez on Iran

I found the Sept. 24 cartoon by Michael Ramirez to be an irresponsible, outrageous and offensive act against a nation. Iran stands for a nation of 65 million people, not for a terrorist group in the government.

As a professor of sociology, I strongly believe that this cartoon is an obvious means of destruction against the discourse of social integration of different ethnic groups in a diverse society such as the U.S. Also, it may incite people against innocent Iranians in schools and at job places in this country. In addition, it promotes hatred and encourages prejudice against minorities in general and Iranians in particular. I think Iranians deserve an official apology.
