Newport Corp. Makes Buy to Boost Fiber-Optics Area
Irvine-based Newport Corp. said Tuesday it has acquired a Boulder, Colo., firm for cash to bolster its fiber-optics communications operations.
Financial terms of the purchase of Environmental Optical Sensors Inc. were not disclosed, but Newport plans to complete the deal within a month. The purchase, Newport’s first since 1996, is part of a strategy to grow through acquisitions, the company said.
