Mater Dei Shortstop Commits to USC

Mater Dei shortstop Pat Manning has orally committed to USC, Monarch Coach Bob Ickes said.

Manning batted .463 with nine home runs and 32 RBIs in 1998 to help Mater Dei win its sixth consecutive South Coast League title. Manning was selected to the Times’ All-County and All-Southern Section Division I first teams. He is also the lone county player on the USA Junior National team, currently playing in the Pan American tournament in Cartagena, Colombia.
