County Grant Allows One-Stop Job Center to Expand

A $1.3-million county grant will allow the Coastal County Regional One-Stop Center in Newport Beach to relocate to a much larger site in Costa Mesa.
The Coastal County Regional One-Stop Center, run by Fountain Valley-based Coastline Community College, will provide assistance to anyone seeking a job or training. Employers can use the center for recruiting.
By moving from Newport Beach’s Eastbluff area to Costa Mesa, Coastline is more than tripling its space. The new center will be 18,000 square feet, compared with 5,000 square feet now.
Services for job-seekers include eligibility screening, referrals, training workshops and seminars. Candidates also are given access to computers, the Internet, fax machines and copiers.
In some cases, professional attire will be made available to clients without clothing suitable for job interviews.
County supervisors approved the grant earlier this month for the expanded center, expected to open Nov. 1 at 1675 Scenic Drive.
There are five other Coastal County Regional One-Stop Centers in Orange County in Anaheim, Garden Grove, La Habra, Mission Viejo and Santa Ana. The Costa Mesa center is the only one run by Coastline.
