Work Crew Ruptures Water Main
Construction crews broke a water main Saturday near the Santa Ana Freeway in Buena Park, spilling water into two houses, a self-storage facility and part of Orangethorpe Avenue, authorities said.
The rupture happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. when Caltrans employees were installing pilings as part of the freeway-widening project. The pilings shattered the water main, said Sgt. Phil Dascenzi of the Buena Park Police Department.
Two houses on Indiana Avenue, near Orangethorpe, were flooded, as well as E-Z Storage on Orangethorpe. No injuries were reported and no one was evacuated, Dascenzi said.
At least one lane of Orangethorpe Avenue was reopened three hours later, he said.
