Fatal Crash Closes Ortega Highway

Ortega Highway was closed from La Pata Avenue north of San Juan Capistrano to Grand Avenue in Lake Elsinore on Wednesday, police said, following a car crash that killed one person and injured several others.
Mike Richardson, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, said the 5 p.m. accident occurred about six miles east of Interstate 5. No further details were available Wednesday night, he said, as the investigation continued.
One person died at the scene, and several with unspecified injuries were taken to hospitals in San Clemente and Mission Viejo, Richardson said.
