Mitsubishi Electric to Restructure

Cypress-based Mitsubishi Electric America Inc. on Thursday announced a restructuring that will dissolve the holding company and result in “minimal layoffs.”
The U.S. operations of Mitsubishi Electric Corp., which is based in Japan, will incorporate the administrative functions of the holding company into its largest subsidiary, Mitsubishi Electronics America, Inc. No product lines or services will be affected by the restructuring, which was undertaken to streamline operations, the company said.
“Really what this boils down to is housekeeping,” said company spokesperson Donnelle Koselka.
The company has 2,858 employees around the country. It’s unclear how many would be laid off in the restructuring, which will take place in the first quarter of next year, Koselka said.
