Kapler and Wolf Continue to Rise in Arizona Fall League

Gabe Kapler, former Taft High and Moorpark College outfielder, and Randy Wolf, former El Camino Real and Pepperdine pitcher, are among the statistical leaders in the Arizona Fall League.
Kapler, minor league player of the year in the Detroit Tigers’ organization, ranks 10th in batting with a .328 average.
Wolf, who pitched in triple A in the Philadelphia Phillies’ organization, is fourth in earned-run average at 2.40. He has 15 strikeouts in 15 innings.
Jeff Weaver, a pitcher from Simi Valley and Fresno State, has a 0.82 ERA in 11 innings, including 12 strikeouts. Pitchers must have at least 13 innings to be ranked.
Rob Crabtree, a pitcher from Cal State Northridge, has a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings. Keith Evans, who pitched at Crespi, has a 2.31 ERA in 11 2/3 innings.
Robert Fick, a catcher from Newbury Park and Northridge, is batting .292 with two home runs. Catcher Stacy Kleiner of Taft is batting .233.
The league began Sept. 30 and runs through Nov. 22.
Major-league teams usually send their best minor-league prospects to the league.
