Fleskoski’s Finish Helps Diablos Beat Dana Hills

Amanda Fleskoski passed four runners in the final quarter mile to finish fourth and lead Mission Viejo to a 27-28 victory over Dana Hills in South Coast League girls’ cross-country Wednesday.
Fleskoski finished the race in 19 minutes 58 seconds on the three-mile course at Laguna Niguel Regional Park.
Kendall Billingsley won the race for Mission Viejo (1-2) in 18:44 and April Lopez finished third for the Diablos.
Dana Hills is 1-2.
In another South Coast League meet:
Mater Dei 25, Capistrano Valley 30--The Monarchs finished in the top three spots to defeat Capistrano Valley (2-1), ranked 10th in Division I.
Jenny Sears won the race for the Monarchs in 18:30 at Fairview Park. Mater Dei (3-0) is ranked fifth in Division II.
In the Century League:
El Modena 17, Santa Ana Valley 46--Laurie Burns, Leaf Williams and Christine Eckstaedt led El Modena with a top-three sweep at Irvine Park. The Vanguards (5-0) finished undefeated in league.
In the Garden Grove League:
Mariners win 37th--Pacifica won its 37th consecutive league meet with a double dual meet victory over La Quinta, 15-30, and Bolsa Grande, 15-50. Natalie Perkins led the Mariners (6-0) with a time of 18:14 and Christine Krause finished second in 18:40 to lead Pacifica at Mile Square Park.
Rancho Alamitos 16, Garden Grove 45--Diana Abarca and Heather Wenz led a top-four sweep for Rancho Alamitos (3-1) at Mile Square Park.
In the Freeway League:
Troy 16, Fullerton 46--Vanessa Hernandez won the race for Troy (2-1), finishing in 18:57, on the three-mile course at Hillcrest Park.
Fullerton is 0-3.
In the Pacific Coast League:
University 18, Estancia 40--Allyson Marquand won with a time of 17:55 and Jessica Howard finished second in 18:07 to lead University (4-0) at Mason Park.
In Century League boys’ cross-country:
Villa Park 15, Canyon 42--Augie Escobar, Russell Streadbeck and Ramon Rosas led a top-five sweep for No. 6 Villa Park (4-1) at Irvine Park.
In the Freeway League:
Troy 20, Fullerton 35--Freshman Patrick Jones won the race for Fullerton (0-3) in 16:50, on Hillcrest Park’s three-mile course..
Josh Shapiro led the way for Troy (2-1), finishing second in 16:57.
In the Garden Grove League:
Rancho Alamitos 25, Garden Grove 31--Jeremy Vantress led Rancho Alamitos (2-2) in 16:05 at Mile Square Park.
Santiago 17, Los Amigos 33--Santiago’s Rene Rangel won the three-mile race in 15:44 at Mile Square Park. Teammates and brothers Juan and Rudy Corona took second (15:52) and third (16:08).
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 21, Capistrano Valley 36--Ryan McGarry led Mater Dei, winning the race in 15:25, on the three-mile course at Fairview Park. Allen Childress (15:59) finished second for the Monarchs (2-1), ranked fourth in Division II.
In Century League girls’ golf:
Villa Park 144, Orange 184--Medalist Shelly Raworth shot six-over 42 for Villa Park (5-7, 2-0) at Green River.
In nonleague girls’ golf:
El Toro 298, San Clemente 332--Melissa Peters shot 98 to lead El Toro (8-5) at Pacific Club and the El Toro Marine base.
Dawn Regan was the medalist with a 96 for San Clemente.
In Academy League girls’ tennis:
St. Margaret’s 12, Connelly 6--Freshman Brianna Ondryas won, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0, in singles, to lead host St. Margaret’s (7-4, 5-1). Connelly is 4-6, 3-4.
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Woodbridge 17, Villa Park 1--Freshman Evangelina Soriano swept in No. 1 singles for Woodbridge (14-0), 6-0, 6-1, 6-0.
In Golden West League girls’ volleyball:
Rosary 3, Santa Ana 0--Daniella Kline helped Rosary remain undefeated in league with seven kills. Beth Lidin had six aces and Jackie Schrader had 20 assists for Rosary (8-3, 5-0), which won, 15-4, 15-10, 15-11.
In Century League boys’ water polo:
No. 5 Foothill 16, Canyon 9--Matt Ellis and Eitan Goldstein each scored four goals for host Foothill (10-6, 2-0). Adam Katz had 14 saves for the Knights.
No. 9 Villa Park 21, El Modena 2--Nick Pacelli scored eight goals to lead host Villa Park (13-9, 3-0). Charlie Fisher scored five goals for the Spartans, who led 9-2 at the half.
Villa Park is ranked seventh in Division I. El Modena is 1-2 in league.
In the Freeway League:
La Habra 15, Sunny Hills 3--Rob Ramirez scored five goals and Nathan Allard added four to lead La Habra (10-8, 3-0) at home.
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 14, Magnolia 8--Mark Becher scored four goals to lead visiting Brea Olinda (6-10, 3-1). Nathan Batchelor had 21 saves for the Wildcats, ranked sixth in Division VI.
Kevin Marsh had six goals for Magnolia (3-1 in league).
Western 15, Valencia 7--Al Rabanera scored six goals and Jacob Weinstock added five in the victory for host Western (13-3, 3-2). Goalkeeper Ronny Cunningham had 16 saves for Western, ranked seventh in Division VI.
Matt Straw led Valencia (2-2 in league) with four goals.
In the Sea View League:
No. 1 Newport Harbor 9, Santa Margarita 4--Newport Harbor took a 5-0, first-quarter lead. Kevin Becker had three goals and Gary Conwell two to lead the Sea Kings (12-4). Tim Birdsong, who helped keep Santa Margarita scoreless the first half, had six saves for Newport Harbor.
No. 7 Corona del Mar 12, Irvine 5--Jason Palda scored three first-half goals to help Corona del Mar take a 7-1 lead. Palda finished with four goals to lead Corona del Mar (9-8), ranked ninth in Division I.
Jason Herzog and Billy Swanson each scored two goals for visiting Irvine.
In nonleague water polo:
Lakewood 11, Cypress 6--Josh Antunez led Cypress (8-7) with five goals. Host Lakewood led 8-3 at the half.
