Irvine Councilman Dave Christensen has appointed a 14-year resident of the city as his representative on the Planning Commission.
Joe Martinez, founder and CEO of Spectrum Ventures, will succeed Scott Peotter as Christensen’s representative on the commission.
Peotter, who recently resigned after serving eight years, said he was leaving because of increased work demands.
Christensen lauded Peotter for his service: “Scott always displayed great energy promoting policies which he believed were right. He worked hard and always came prepared.”
In accepting the appointment to succeed Peotter, Martinez credited his wife, Cathy Verlench, for encouraging him to become active in civic affairs.
“She told me if I was going to complain, then I ought to get involved and do something about the issues challenging Irvine,” Martinez said.
