Day Runner Inc.: The Irvine manufacturer of personal organizing products reported that net income for the first fiscal quarter grew 14% to $5 million, or 40 cents a share, from $4.4 million, or 35 cents a share, for the first quarter last year. Sales for the quarter ended Sept. 30 increased 25% to $47.7 million from $38.1 million.
