UC Irvine Wins Water Polo Tournament
Dan Hayes had four points, including a two-point goal, and Ryan Bailey added two goals to lead fourth-ranked UC Irvine past second-ranked UCLA, 7-5, to win the championship game at the NorCal men’s water polo tournament Sunday at Stanford.
Hayes also scored two goals in a 6-5 semifinal victory over Pacific.
In a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s soccer game:
UC Irvine 4, Sacramento State 0--Michael Mucino had a goal and three assists for host Irvine (7-6, 1-1). Mucino’s three assists tied a school single-game record. Sacramento is 0-10-1, 0-4.
In Big West Conference women’s soccer:
Pacific 3, UC Irvine 1--The visiting Anteaters (10-3-2, 4-1-1) did not score until Stephanie Rigamat scored her 11th goal in the 71st minute. Pacific (11-2-2, 6-0-1) remained in first in the conference.
CS Fullerton 4, Long Beach State 3--Kelly Bogan had a goal and an assist and Amy Barnes had two assists for the visiting Titans (6-9-1, 3-2-1). Kelli Barrett had a goal and an assist for Long Beach (7-10, 3-4).
