El Camino Real 20, Birmingham 17--El Camino Real running back D’Angelo Nedd led a third-quarter surge by scoring on three-yard run and a 94-yard kickoff return at Birmingham.
Nedd finished with 74 yards in 12 carries, and completed one pass for 32 yards to Kevin Eggum on a halfback option play.
Birmingham (1-5, 0-3) held the Conquistadores (3-2-1, 2-1) scoreless in the first half. The Patriots took a 7-0 lead on a 15-yard run by Howard Jones late in the second quarter.
Jones finished with 111 yards in 28 carries.
Birmingham closed the gap in the fourth quarter on a four-yard run by quarterback Max Parra with 9:21 remaining.
