U.S. Closes Anheuser-Busch Antitrust Probe

The Justice Department has closed its antitrust investigation of Anheuser-Busch Cos. and will take no action against the world’s largest brewer. Government lawyers were questioning whether the company unfairly thwarted small competitors through its program of giving cash incentives to distributors who favor Anheuser-Busch products. St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch still faces a private suit by a group of microbrewers.
