Worker Dies on Job Under Truck Wheels
A carnival worker was crushed to death in Buena Park on Tuesday by a tractor-trailer under which he was apparently sleeping, police said.
The driver of the rig was unaware of the man’s presence and moved the truck, which was carrying a Ferris wheel, said Sgt. Ken Coovert of the Buena Park Police Department.
The 46-year-old victim, an employee of Davis Enterprises Carnival, was treated at the scene by Orange County paramedics and then airlifted to UCI Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:18 p.m.
The accident occurred about 2:45 p.m. at Peak Park, where the company was setting up rides for this weekend’s Silverado Days Carnival, police said. No charges were filed against the driver.
The name of the victim had not been released late Tuesday pending notification of relatives.
