Alleged mob boss John A. “Junior” Gotti was released from jail on conditions that include $10-million bail, a 24-hour guard and monitored phone calls. As he left the courthouse in White Plains, N.Y., Gotti said he felt great. Gotti, 34, was arrested Jan. 21 on charges of robbery, extortion, loan sharking, gambling and fraud. He could be sentenced to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors say he is among those who have been running the Gambino crime family since the 1992 conviction of his father in connection with five murders. John Gotti, the “Dapper Don,” is imprisoned for life without parole. The younger Gotti faces a Jan. 5 trial. A judge had rejected bail on the government’s contentions that Gotti’s power would endanger the community but later said the government would need to show more evidence to back that up.
