* Masters Meet at Cerritos College, 4:30 p.m. Friday: The top five finishers in each event qualify for the state meet, June 5-6 at Cerritos College. Mater Dei’s Mike McNair is the county’s only sprinter in this elite field. Mission Viejo’s Mark Gleason, a triple winner at last weekend’s division championships, has a good chance of advancing in the 1,600 and 3,200. Teammate Chris Kemp, who has been running on Gleason’s heels all season, looks to qualify in the 800 and 1,600. In the girls’ 800, Esperanza freshman Meribeth Buche should challenge Brea Olinda’s Maika Nelson for one of the qualifying spots. University’s Allyson Marquand posted the top qualifying time in the 1,600 last weekend, but is dropping the event to concentrate on the 3,200, an event in which she placed sixth at state last season. Mission Viejo’s Ashley Bethel will attempt to qualify in the 100 hurdles for the fourth consecutive season. Janelle Loudat of Woodbridge has been the biggest surprise of the postseason, winning the Division II 300 hurdles over Santa Margarita’s Amanda Shanklin and Mission Viejo’s Dana Bethel.
