Oakland center fielder Jason McDonald, who sustained a concussion during a collision Saturday night, was released from the hospital Sunday and placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Outfielder Ryan Christenson was recalled from Triple-A Edmonton to take McDonald’s place on the roster.
McDonald was injured during the A’s 9-1 loss to Baltimore when he and teammate Rickey Henderson collided as they ran toward each other to make a play on Harold Baines’ sinking liner in the third inning.

Pitcher Jim Parque, formerly of UCLA and Crescenta Valley High, was called up by the White Sox from their triple-A affiliate in Calgary and is expected to get his first major league start later this week.
