STANFORD — Chelsea Clinton was hospitalized Tuesday night “as a precautionary measure” after catching the flu and released Wednesday morning, a White House spokeswoman said.
The White House said neither the president nor the first lady planned to come to California.
Chelsea, an 18-year-old freshman at Stanford University, complained about stomach pains, an official said.
“Chelsea caught the flu, and as a precautionary measure she was hospitalized yesterday and released this morning,” said Marsha Berry, press secretary to the first lady. “She’s on the mend. I don’t have any more information.”
Other White House officials said Hillary Rodham Clinton and her staff were reluctant to release any information, in keeping with their policy of guarding Chelsea’s privacy.
