Killer of 3 Officers Had a Handcuff Key
An ex-convict who gunned down three officers hid his identity, his criminal past and a cheap master key he used to free himself from handcuffs and turn the tables on police before ending his life. Officers mourned their fallen colleagues--leaving flowers, cards and lighted candles outside police headquarters in front of a black marble memorial to slain officers. Tampa officials said they did not know where Hank Carr had hidden the small handcuff key. Once he freed himself, Carr killed two homicide detectives driving him in a car and later killed a Florida state trooper before taking a clerk hostage at a gas station in Brooksville.
