Excite Inc. and six top executives of the Internet search and directory company filed for the sale of 1.35 million common shares. The Redwood City-based company plans to use the estimated $68.8 million in proceeds from the sale to make payments to Netscape Communications Corp. under its agreement to provide search services to the Netcenter Web site.
