Ice Dogs Lose Again to Wolves

CHICAGO — Steve Martins scored with 3:55 remaining Sunday to lift the Chicago Wolves to a 3-2 victory over the Ice Dogs and a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven IHL Western Conference finals.
Game 3 is at Long Beach Arena on Wednesday.
Martins, who scored twice in Chicago’s opening-game victory, beat Ice Dog goalie Mike Buzak for the deciding goal in the second contest. Martins also assisted on the Wolves’ second goal.
Playing before a crowd of 5,204 at the Rosemont Horizon, Chicago jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Kevin Dahl scored at the 16:20 mark of the first period, then Scott Pearson added a goal 1:10 later.
The Ice Dogs came back to tie it on Andrei Vasilyev’s eighth goal of the playoffs, on a power play at 11:46 of the second, and John Byce’s power-play goal at 14:25 of the third.
