ANGELS CAMP, Calif. — Pretty Lady, a California bullfrog, beat out 2,000 competitors with a winning jump of 19 feet, 4 inches at the 70th annual Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee.
Pretty Lady edged out Greenie, which jumped 18 feet, 9 1/4 inches to take second place. The record jump for the competition belongs to Rosie the Ribeter, who sprang 21 feet, 5 3/4 inches in 1986.
Bob Frasano, Pretty Lady’s owner, declined to divulge his strategy.
“A lot of it’s in preparation and a lot of it’s in training,” he said.
Frasano took home $750.
