Gerald J. Munoff, deputy director of the University of Chicago Library, has been named university librarian at UC Irvine.
Selected after a national search, he will join UCI on July 1 and will oversee a three-library system.
During his 13-year tenure at the University of Chicago, Munoff managed programs and services for the 10th-largest academic library system in the United States.
Before joining the University of Chicago, Munoff was deputy state librarian and deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Previously, he served as librarian of the University of Kentucky.
UCI’s three libraries house a total of about 2 million volumes and 17,500 serial subscriptions.
