MISSION HILLS — A 28-year-old woman was killed and two other persons injured Tuesday when two cars collided near the corner of San Fernando Mission Boulevard and Noble Avenue, police said.
“The woman was clearly beyond our help when we arrived soon after 7 p.m.,” said Brian Humphrey, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman. “Her vehicle was massively damaged.”
The woman, who police have not identified pending notification of next of kin, “was driving, as I understand it now, and went into the wrong lane, hitting the car coming the other way,” said LAPD Officer Bill Mulvihill.
The two injured were a father and son, ages 45 and 12, who were driving in a late-model minivan. They were taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries, according to authorities.
“They survived in large part because they were restrained by seat belts,” Humphrey said.
