Seattle Acknowledges Dangerous Foe Awaits
SEATTLE — So relieved were the Seattle SuperSonics to put away the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, they didn’t even start to complain about being rushed back into action little more than 48 hours later against the Lakers.
Of course, they still have one day off, so we’re not home-free yet.
Here is what they did say:
George Karl: “Now we’ve got to play what I think is, probably right now, a team that’s playing as well as any team in the NBA.’
Gary Payton: “I really don’t want to think about it right now but it’s going to be a battle. They got a great team. They got a great young team but they got a little more experience than the Timberwolves have . . .
“I think we’ve got to understand, we’re going to slow down Shaq and, hopefully, the other four guys won’t kill us the way they did in the last game.â€
