A guided-missile ship used in amphibious landings and as a battle escort will be on display this weekend at the Port Hueneme Navy Base.
The USS Rentz, a San Diego-based frigate, is stopping at the base for systems testing. Tours of the ship will be given from 1 to 4 p.m. today and Sunday. The ship, commissioned in 1984, has been used to escort oil tankers in the Arabian Gulf and visited China in 1986.
Base officials ask that visitors enter through the Pleasant Valley Gate and follow parking signs leading to the pier. For information, call the base public affairs office at 982-7984.
