Hearing-Impaired Have Freedom of Choice Too
- Share via
For Sens. Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) and Dan Coats (R-Ind.) to call “The Jerry Springer Show” “the closest thing to pornography on broadcast television” [“Some Cry Foul Over ‘Springer’ Show Capturing Grant,” March 4] is disingenuous at best and demonstrates how the made-in-hell fusion of the Democratic and Republican parties threatens the freedom of us all.
“The Jerry Springer Show” is not pornography. Besides, even if it were, the hearing-impaired are not robots. They deserve choices of stupidity like the rest of Americans.
The U.S. Department of Education has my tax dollars willingly if they continue to avoid sterile propaganda when awarding grants for captioning popular shows for the hearing-impaired. I trust they can save their own souls.
