Acting Director of Human Services Named

A successor has been named to replace the city’s director of human services who has worked for the city for 50 years, officials said.
Don Rogers will become acting director of the Human Services Department on July 1, succeeding Syd Kronenthal, who will retire after 50 years, said city spokeswomen Randi Joseph.
Kronenthal has spent 36 years as director of the department.
Rogers is now a community services manager overseeing recreational, volunteer and employment programs for senior citizens, as well as programs providing services for disabled residents. He has worked for the city for more than 24 years.
Rogers holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of science in recreation from Cal State L.A. and a master of divinity degree from Golden State Seminary.
The City Council and administrative staff selected Rogers from a field of four internal candidates.
