Chief Named at Edison Capital Unit
Keeley Kirkendall has joined Irvine-based Edison Capital as president of its affordable housing subsidiary, Edison Capital Housing Investments. Kirkendall was previously with Bank of America for 20 years, most recently as senior vice president with Bank of America Community Development Bank, where he managed the affordable housing group since its creation in 1991.

Marc Nussbaum has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president of advanced development for Western Digital Corp. in Irvine. He will continue and expand his role as the company’s chief technical officer. Succeeding him in charge of engineering of the personal storage division is Russell Stern, who was appointed vice president of engineering. Stern, who joined Western Digital in 1994, had been vice president in charge of the division’s Asian operations.

Joan K. Earhart has been named senior vice president of Orange National Bank. She remains manager of the SBA loan department. Earhart joined the bank in 1991 as vice president and manager to organize the newly formed SBA department. She was appointed first vice president in 1993.

Thomas G. Frinzi has been appointed to the newly created position of director of surgical products group for Premier Laser Systems Inc. in Irvine. Frinzi will be responsible for product development and marketing strategies for a range of laser-based surgical applications. He was formerly with Chiron Vision Corp. in Irvine, where he served as vice president of the U.S. division, then vice president of global marketing.

Daniel H. Schmidt has joined the Irvine office of McKenna & Associates Managed Care Insurance Services Inc. as vice president. He formerly headed the health care practice of the Orange County office of a retail insurance broker. Schmidt has also coordinated risk management programs for a California university and teaching medical center.

Doug Cleary has been named manager of real estate for HomeBase Inc., an Irvine-based chain of home improvement warehouses. Cleary is responsible for site selection, acquisition and development of new HomeBase stores in the Southwest territory. He most recently worked in corporate real estate at Kmart Corp. Prior to that, Cleary was an attorney for the District Court in Polk County, Iowa.

Brian S. Corrigan has joined Price Waterhouse LLP as a managing director in the Real Estate Capital Markets Group. He will be based in the Costa Mesa office. Corrigan had been senior vice president at Wells Fargo in Irvine.

Clara Sukowsky has joined the Bank of Yorba Linda in the Costa Mesa office as business development officer. She was previously with National Bank of Southern California.

Don Lavoie is the new president of Westec Interactive Security Inc. in Newport Beach, a division of Westec Security Group. He had been vice president and general manager of Experian Business Information Services, formerly TRW Business Information Services.

Kenneth W. Chung, Jeffrey R. Marquart and Paul N. Stam have been named partners in the law firm of Kring & Brown. All are in the Irvine office. Chung specializes in business litigation, Marquart in civil litigation and Stam in estate planning. The firm has offices in Irvine, San Diego, the Inland Empire and Phoenix.

James G. Stumpfel has been named president and chief executive of PacifiCare Dental & Vision, a subsidiary of PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. in Santa Ana. He was previously senior vice president of Principal Health Care, a company that develops and manages health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, and behavioral health organizations in the Eastern U.S. He has also been president and chief executive of First Choice Health plans in Washington.

Karl Aaronian has been appointed executive vice president of marketing and development for Playmates Toys Inc. in Costa Mesa. He had been with the company for nine years before spending two years at DreamWorks SKG, heading up the toy division.

Lisa Heller has joined McQuerterGroup, a marketing communications firm, as general manager and account supervisor of the new Orange County office in Santa Ana. She was formerly marketing and communications manager at CMD Technology.

Dennis H. Jenkins has been named vice president of sales and marketing for American Security Distribution in Anaheim. He joined the company in 1996 as director of marketing. Before that, Jenkins spent 15 years in management at Beatrice Companies Inc. and Black & Decker.

H. Walter Bee has been named to the newly created position of director of toxicology for CoCensys Inc. in Irvine, a company that develops products to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders. He was previously with Covance Laboratories in Muenster, Germany.

Timothy B. Selchau has joined Sunwest Bank as vice president of the commercial banking team leader at the Tustin branch. He was formerly vice president/manager of the Frontier Bank headquarters office. Selchau has also been vice president of Eldorado Bank and Bank of San Pedro, assistant vice president of First Los Angeles Bank and commercial loan officer for Bank of America.

Charles W. McBrayer has been named senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer for PairGain Technologies Inc. in Tustin. He had been vice president, finance and CFO. Dennis Young, who had been vice president of operations, was appointed senior vice president of operations.

Robert McGrath has been appointed general manager of SunRise Imaging Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Printrak International Inc. in Anaheim. McGrath, who joined Printrak in 1994, was most recently director of domestic sales for automated fingerprint identification systems. He succeeds Steve Butterfield, who headed SunRise Imaging prior to its acquisition in September and during a transition that included the relocation of operations from Fremont in northern California to Printrak’s Southern California headquarters.

Charles J. Moore has become of counsel to the law firm of Cox, Castle & Nicholson in Irvine. He had been the principal land use attorney for Los Angeles County.

Thomas Murphy has been named director of marketing for ObjectShare Inc. in Irvine. He was previously director of product management.
