Wolverines Bounce Back Late in Game
Campbell Hall High traveled all of two miles to Harvard-Westlake and, despite a 15-12, 15-12, 13-15, 16-14 nonleague boys’ volleyball loss Friday night, made the trek worth every millimeter.
Behind 27 kills by UCLA-bound Larry Cole, the Vikings (0-1) came close to their biggest upset in school history.
But Billy Strickland pounded down a career-high 28 kills and William Curtis added 14, including three during a clutch fourth-game comeback for Harvard-Westlake (2-0).
Campbell Hall seized the moment, taking the third game and leading the fourth, 14-10, before Curtis began to connect. He gave the Wolverines a side-out and then a 15-14 lead on consecutive kills.
