Update--The third-place Vigilantes trail first-place Chico by 10 games with 11 to play. On Wednesday, Vigilante General Manager Paula Pyers will attend a league meeting in Portland to discuss the future of the Gulls, whose ownership ceased operations last week. The Gulls are based in Hoquiam, Wash.
Pacific--The Suns have spent the season’s first half in the South Division cellar primarily because injuries. Pacific shows signs of stirring, however, recording consecutive wins for the first time this season with victories against North Division leader Reno last weekend. Third baseman Frank Valdez (.432), considered the Suns’ best player, is back after missing 25 games because of a leg injury.
