Police Identify Body Discovered in Backyard Shed
Police identified the man who was found shot to death inside a backyard shed in Santa Ana Sunday morning as Ruben Leal, 23.
Leal, of Santa Ana, was on parole, Sgt. Steve Despenas said. He had been shot once in the upper torso.
Residents in the 2200 block of South Halladay Street called police after they heard gunshots, Despenas said. Nine occupants of the house were questioned and seven were arrested on outstanding warrants, Despenas said.
Police were trying to determine whether any are suspects in the shooting.
Police are investigating the case as a possible gang-related homicide, Despenas said.
