Everett Paul Vital; Creator of Youth Programs
Everett Paul Vital, active in creating youth programs in Oxnard, died Sunday of a heart attack. He was 47.
Vital helped charter Oxnard’s City Corps Explorer Post in 1997 and was recognized by the City Council for “the gift of learning which he shared with young people.â€
For 20 years, Vital was a manager for federally funded job training programs.
In 1994, he was presented with the Mexican-American Political Forum Appreciation award for “sensitivity and concern to the under-privileged and unemployed.â€
Vital was born June 30, 1950, in Fall River, Mass. He moved to Ventura County 22 years ago and lived in Ojai.
He graduated from Southeastern Massachusetts University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
Vital was a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Oxnard and a member of the American Diabetes Assn. He was diabetic.
Vital is survived by his wife Theresa, daughter Lori Shaklee and son Kevin Angelini. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Diabetes Assn.
