Larger Recycling Bins Distributed to Residents

Residents in the western areas of the city of Los Angeles began receiving new recycling containers this week, officials said.
The city began replacing the 16-gallon yellow recycling bins with 90-gallon blue bins last September in the western San Fernando Valley, then moved on to the northern region and Central City and the East Valley, said Daniel Hackney, customer relations manager for the Bureau of Sanitation.
The Sanitation Department began dispensing the blue bins to neighborhoods west of La Brea Avenue on Monday and should complete deliveries within three months.
