City Van Will Bring Taste of Parks to Kids
- Share via
The city’s Mobile Recreation Program will continue this summer, beginning June 29.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, a special van with games and play equipment will bring structured programs to children who would otherwise have little access to supervised parks or play areas.
“Without access to our program, these children would ordinarily spend their summers playing in the streets,” said Diana Kuka, recreation supervisor.
“If the child can’t come to the park, we bring the park to the child.”
The two general areas the Fun on Wheels van serves will be in a neighborhood off Westminster Boulevard, east of Edwards Street on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and the Fifteenth Street Apartments near Warner School on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
