East Pitchers Must Come Up Big
Small school pitchers get a chance to show their stuff against large-school hitters Monday in the 12th annual Bernie Milligan senior all-star softball game at Cal State Northridge.
Summer Richardson (19-5) of Boron High, Jaclyn Aranda (22-2) of Village Christian and Kim Wood (19-4) of Verdugo Hills will pitch for the East team.
They will face a number of .400-plus hitters, including Cindy Ball and Jessica Mendoza of Camarillo, Kristin Combe and Colleen Spencer of Thousand Oaks and Candace Roberts of Newbury Park.
Joining Ball (12-1) in the rotation for the West squad are Lori Tande (12-1) of Simi Valley and Jennifer Grennan (8-6) of Agoura.
Among the sluggers in a potent lineup for the East squad are Jennifer Durost and Jennifer Smith of Highland, Kelley Cook of Glendale and Teresa Estrada of Sylmar, all of whom hit better than .400 this season.
The nine-inning game begins at 4 p.m. and will be preceded by a home-run hitting contest at 3.
