The Dodgers--who rank third in National League attendance behind the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks--passed the million mark in their 27th game last season.

* Update--Valdes takes Hideo Nomo’s turn in the rotation tonight before Nomo’s replacement, Dennis Reyes, makes his first start of the season Saturday. The Mariners, who just completed a two-game series against the Angels, have the American League’s leading home-run hitters in Ken Griffey Jr. (22) and Alex Rodriguez (21). They also have Randy Johnson, of course, but the Dodgers won’t face him for the second year in a row.
* Saturday, 1 p.m.--Dennis Reyes (0-1, 4.82 ERA) vs. Jeff Fassero (5-2, 3.73 ERA).
